Mother and daughters accused of injuring neighbour
A mother and her three daughters were today charged with slightly injuring a neighbour during an argument.
They were also accused of threatening the neighbour and breaching the peace in taz-Zwejt, limits of San Gwann.
Mary Ann Azzopardi, 40; Sue Ellen, 24; Denise, 18; and a 15-year-old, who cannot be named because of her age, are all pleading not guilty to the charges.
Sources said this was due to a long standing argument that finally erupted into a brawl.

You have just showed that you don't know the difference between a soldier's and a police man's duty! The main objective of a soldier is to be trained! How I wish to see you calling at your local police station to file a report, and to your surprise you find attached to the door, Sorry we are out on training today please call again tomorrow. Now go have a cuppa and sit back and relax!

One must stop ignoring the big social problems we've got in this country which are all caused by poor education. Altru milli centru ta' eccelenza, Gonz!

First we need to help the Police to help us. How can I love my neighbours when a thief or thieves robbed all the jewellery from my house In broad daylight and no one saw or heard anything? I'm 100% that they knew I was being robbed but they just did nothing. One day it will be my turn for sure.

I'm not surprised since I have lived in San Gwann for the past two years and the attitude and sheer rudeness of the residents here is abysmal. The level of anarchy and disrespect in this sprawling suburb which reeks of ugliness in certain areas really takes some beating.

Apart from that, we have to have fit energetic police to help not chubby ones that barely fit in their skoda, ma tarax, its out of their way to drive and check out crime, then its too late as J Caruana said, the only best police ive encountered are the mobile squad who at least patrol and solve crimed which arent reported, bqija, one physical test and thats it.... nothing like soldiers always training! they just have to step up a bit, no hard feelings, but they are there to help us and our country, cant have a cuppa and sit back!

I'm not the least surprised with the relaxed attitude the police station in San Gwann is currently being run as Mr. Caruana clearly highlighted.
The station which is supposed to meet the needs of more than 9,000 San Gwann residents is closed for most of the time, small in size and unequipped. When I personally filed a report weeks ago, the officer on duty told me to call at St.Julians police station to print the report because the report could not be printed from the San Gwann Police station.
For every emergency or even some petty issue, the residents have to call at the St.Julians station when the San Gwann station is closed. This is of great inconvenience and quite dangerous as police officers stationed in St.Julians definitely take longer time to proceed given the distance and their primary duties towards the St.Julians community.

Sorry Brian but according to the law the first duty of the police is to PREVENT crimes from being committed.

Like in any EU state or anywhere else for that matter, the Police in Malta cannot do anything until a crime is committed. What if a malicious neighbour of yours had reported you to the police when you hadn't committed any crime; would you be happy with that?

I agree with Mr.Caruana - Justice is working to late - and when the water calms down because justice is made by who is suffering or by the Malta Bullies than the police intervene just to arrest.
I am not pointing my fingers towards the police but towards the falsity of the system were who makes injustice lives in heaven and who stays quite only suffers until justice is made in the illecit way.....which altough is wrong its the only solution remaining. This happened so much this year that action must be taken so that the bullies think twice before being arrogant...ghax fl-ahhar tal-mazzita ghad isibu zbieba

Last month I went to the police station to tell them there was a lot of tension in my block of ten apartments and that a big fight was due on a particular day and time due to very serious pending issue
To my surprise the SURGENT in a very relaxed voice told me. When the fighting starts call us and we come and stop it.
At least he couldhave called the trouble maker and warned him.
...................................................................................................................................................................
My friends ex husband big trouble maker was giving Her family a really hard time and making life very difficult for all the family. However, the police apparently
could do nothing to help this poor woman.
.....................................................................................................................................................................
then when something like tarxien happens we go with ten cars blocking the road and making a big xenata to impress.
THEN IT S TOO LATE ........
