I have been flying the Maltese flag bearing the George Cross outside my bar, The City of London, for the past 40 years. Although I had just been born when the George Cross was awarded to the brave people of Malta, fighting for survival against the Nazi, I still feel so hurt and disgusted by readers, like Norman E. Grech (July 22), who year after year show their antagonism and disrespect to the recipients of the greatest bravery award in history.
Mr Grech has once again not changed the tune and continues to harp on the colonial past. He also dreams that the removal of the George Cross is a matter of when.
The Maltese flag belongs to the Maltese people, as Mr Grech maintains, but so is the George Cross and that is where it shall stay.
