Manresa Complex, Victoria

Manresa complex is located at St Dominic Street, Victoria, and is an ecclesiastical complex comprising of a chapel, convent and gardens. The fa‡ade is symmetrical with a central portal over which is a triangular pediment.

This portal has since been walled up and a marble plaque placed on the wall. The portal is flanked by two windows set in arches with a door on each outer side of each window and an additional flanking window at each end. Each of the windows has a wrought iron, "pregnant type" security grille.

The first floor has three windows to each side of the pediment, while directly above the pediment on the roof wall is a bishop's coat of arms sculptured in stone. At the centre of the parapet wall is an ornate bell cot with a bronze bell.

All doors and windows have ornate mouldings, while on the pavement are two sets of raised stairs and a number of hard stone bollards. The side walls of the convent are very plain with rows of square windows.

Mepa scheduled the Manresa Complex in Victoria as a Grade 2 national monument as per Government Notice No. 628/08 in the Government Gazette dated July 12, 2008.
