Nature Trust has welcomed the planning authority's decision to refuse permission for a block of flats at the Wied tal-Madonna in Mellieħa. The six-year battle by residents against the development of a block of flats ended in victory when the planning appeals board last Friday confirmed a previous decision to refuse permission. Nature Trust said that valley habitats should be given maximum protection. The NGO urged the authority to refuse applications in such areas like Wied il-Għasel and Baħrija.
