Hello Christopher caul, yes i read that too, but also have a look at Holidays from Hell on google and you see the ups and downs of a Matese holiday, i think this one will take the cherry on the cake.,mostly about the service, the high prices and dirty streets as compared with say Spain, but thats the negative bits there are some positive bits as well but few and far in between.

Mike O"hara I think you will find that the number of flights from regional airports to Malta have been dis-continued or are far less particularly in the winter. This will put a greater stress on the major airports especially if they do not increase the number of flights. In fact it now seems impossible to get a flight from the East Midlands to Malta at anytime.I don"t blame the Airlines as they have to practise common sense with thier economic policies or go out of business but I do blame the greedy people who have given Malta tourism such a bad name (look at Tripadvisor for any hotel in Malta)

Yes i can quite believe that and there are still yet worse figures to emerge, only last night we were in Marsalforn and was amazed to see how many empty tables there were and no foreign tourists, maybe they have gone to the moon., unless they are staying put because firstly there is no money about due to various industries going bust and ofcourse there is that nasty flu about.,so i think when we see higher figures in due course it won't be a surprise as its expected, unfortunitly Gozo is experiencing the worse more so then the main island as next year -2010 is forcast to go down in history

Interesting - I've just made a few reservation enquiries on Air Malta, and every return combination I picked for the next 2 weeks from Gatwick was full! If the hotels are doing badly............. To quote Mulder and Sculley, the truth is out there somewhere.

Well I hate to be the prophet of doom but I fear that by the end of this year we will hear of a few bad news that will change a few things round here. Starting from big developments like the one planned in the south which had to employ thousands to hotels, developers etc etc . ones these big business start going bust it will create a domino effect and will kill other already struggling businesses. a bit what price club did years back but on a larger scale. I feel the crisis is starting to hit now.
Someone ( an expert ) please tell me I am wrong and i dont need to start doing my bags To Aussie land.........

how come we are at the end of july and still pondering on the May figures? I was at bugibba square yesterday afternoon and was astounded by the amount of empty tables at all the outlets there, now ok, it was really hot but I remember that these same places used to by chocabloc even at these hours so what is happening - has the slide been worse in june and july? why are the june figures taking so long to come out?
this is pretty straight forward statistics, why take so long?
