That road is just very dangerous. By the looks of it, the car went straight where it should have taken a gentle curve to the left, but unless you're driving in excess of like 160 km/h, there's no way that high speed would result in loss of control. Perhaps the driver was distracted, or had a blackout.
But the big problem is the road itself. There should be a 30 cm barrier in the middle (to stop those maniacs who cross the double uninterrupted lines) and a proper barrier, to prevent such accidents as these.
But what do we get? A 30 km/h (if memory serves me well) speed limit. Malta must be one of the few countries that imposes such a speed limit on a four lane road, instead of installing proper safety measures.

Whilst wishing a speedy recovery for this young woman, I really don't know what's happening to the Maltese drivers. One cannot even enjoy a relaxing 'Sunday drive', with all the cars that overtake and make dangerous manouvers. It has become a total nightmare to drive a car these days (ANY time of day) - and these accidents are the proof of such bad and dangerous driving. It is totally pointless to point fingers at parties, ADT etc... huwa ahna stess li qeghdin inwaqqaw il- gebla fuq saqajna!

AN URGENT APPEAL TO THE ADT and authorities.
to change the current exit from the mizieb road and into the bypass and vise versa.
cars coming from mizieb ROAD should not be allowed to turn right towards bellview.
cars coming from ghadira side of the mellieha bypass should not be allowed to turn right and into the mizieb road.
THIS IS PROVING VERY DANGEROUS, as both these cases cross the oncoming cars at high speeds!!!!!!!
THIS IS NOT A MATTER OF IF,,,,, AN ACCIDENT ( BAD ONE ) WILL OCCUR.
IT IS A MATTER OF WHEN!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know ADT is responsible for building walls where the road is higher than the surrounding area.
There are a number of roads without such walls including right opposite the Public Library in Beltissebh but no-one sees anything is this country!
The Mellieha short-cut route to Cirkewwa through Manikata is very dangerous. ADT should start doing something about such road. This island is not the USA, tiny Malta is manageable but ADT seems to be totally incompetent on all levels.
What is the Minister waiting for to bring ADT up to scatch? It seems to me that since the Roads Department became an Authority, the government lost all control and this goes for all Authorities which in my opinion were created to relieve the government of responsiblity. No-one seems to be responsible for anything these days!

Let's hope for a swift recovery by this lady from this accident.
I find it interesting that there seem to be quite a lot of accidents here in Malta, where no other vehicle is involved, and in daylight, no rain etc.
I believe many of these 'odd' accidents - not necessarily this one, are caused by chatting on the phone while driving - in Europe statistics indicate this is true, so it is probably true here in Malta as well.
