A policeman has been charged with allowing two people to steal air conditioning units while on fixed point duty.

Anthony Robert Ebejer pleaded not guilty to letting Duncan Vella, 35, and Clayton Muscat, 21, into the former trade fair grounds in Naxxar on July 21, allowing them to steal seven air conditioning units which together cost less than €2,300.

Mr Vella and Mr Muscat, who were also charged, pleaded not guilty to the theft.

All three were granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 each. PC Ebejer also has to submit a deposit of €500.
