Malta FA's 2009 AGM today

The Malta FA's 2009 annual general meeting will take place today at the Centenary Hall, starting at 9.30 a.m.

The meeting's agenda includes such items as the approval of the association's financial report for the year 2008/09, additions or alterations to the MFA statute and the election of the ordinary members of the Executive Committee for year 2009/10.

A total of 18 canditates have declared their intention to form part of the Executive Committee which also comprises the MFA's top officials.

Joseph Gauci and Paul Spiteri, officials of Birkirkara and Valletta respectively, are assured a place on the Executive Committee as they are the only two nominees for the two vacancies allocated to top-flight clubs.

Three candidates, Charles Caruana, Joseph Sammut and Bjorn Vassallo, are vying for the two posts reserved for Division One representatives. Charles J. Scerri and Salvu Vella are bidding to win the one seat assigned to Division Two clubs while Joseph Farrugia, the Kirkop official, is the only candidate for the Division Three slot.

Six MFA council members - Caruana, Victor Cassar, Malcolm Dimech, Raymond Micallef, Antoine Portelli and Vella - are in the race for the two seats in representation of member clubs in general.

A vote will also be needed to elect two of the four candidates for the two vacancies assigned to council members in representation of other member associations. These are David Abdilla, Lawrence Callus, Joseph Cassar M. Naudi and Donald Spiteri.

Joe Micallef (Youth FA) and Charles Calleja (Gozo FA) are uncontested.

The annual general meeting will wrap up with a speech from Joe Mifsud, the Malta FA president.
