I cannot believe what I read in these comments, most of them are truly racist some are biased without any juice in them and some are hate mongering.
If an African is not allowed in the nightclubs this is segregation, I thought being part of Euorope would have thought some of you folks to be able to understand that being Black (African) meant nothing but obviously it does I just wonder if this man was anglophone if anyone would have said anything. Shame on you who think these people are not part of our human race.

My dear (african originating) pure Maltese. What would happen to year, when, in a few years' time, your children / nephews mix with these foreigners?

My dear Robert Callus if you believe in justice then you should not support this illegal invasion from Africa. The majority of these people are economic migrants and by letting them in the GonziPN government is commiting gros injustice. Do you believe in justice or illegality? I think the answer is illegality Robert. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Can you specify why I should be ashamed to call myself Maltese. Because I believe in justice? Because I hate hypocricy? I wrote my comment after I've seen only four comments (one of them mine) on a much more serious crime, committed by a Maltese:
http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20090725/local/robber-caught-beating-elderly-man-on-cctv-court-hears
My intent is not to apologise for the Ethiopian, as I said in my other comment, but to show that something is wrong no matter the nationality of who does it.
You have every right to think I should be ashamed for believing in justice. But rest assured I'm not even slightly ashamed.

@ Mr Callus
Had the man been Maltese and the victim an African immigrant we would have had the usual anti racism protest made by the usual 8 NGOS claiming how racist our country had become.

I thought they didn't allow illegal immigrants from Africa in clubs. Anyway at least he was denaid bail. Save Malta from illegal immigration and it's members commends the judge.

Whether the accused is black, white, yellow, red, or Maltese, all accused should stand equal before the Court. The question is: Will the sentence handed down, if found guilty, act as a deterrant to future crimes by this or any other individual? Or will it be just a mere slap on the wrist, with an admonition not to do it again?

I agree Keith D'Amato. These people come here looking for a bettter life, they should learn to respect the laws of the country they are in. Any foriegner whether here as a tourist, or a migrant without a Maltese passport that breaks the law should be kicked out! We cannot afford to even keep most of the law abiding migrants, now we have to fill our fill prisons with them??

@Robert Callus
You amaze me Robert, every comment I see from you is always in favour of the illegal immigrants and the illegal crossings from Libya. You are in the minority. Have you made yourself known to Gonzi? There are no more spaces in the open and detention centres, you can accommodate a number of these illegals at your home. Or even better leave Malta and go and assist these people in their Somaliland. You offer no solutions to this illegal invasion. You should be ashamed to call yourself Maltese!!!!!!!

Had the man been Maltese one would not have seen a single comment here.
There are law abiding Maltese people, there are law breakers.
Same goes for Ethiopans and any person from any nation.
An Ethiopian broke the law. He was charged in court and denied bail. Our justice system is taking care of it. Different from some commentors here, our justice system will punish HIM, not an entire continent.
