Malta U-18 are through to the final of the European Championship Division C when yesterday they eased past Andorra 102-84 in a one-sided semi-final at the Ta' Qali Pavilion.
As the scoreline suggests, there was never any doubt on who will take the honours yesterday as Bruno Dipietrantonio's men were on a different level to the Andorrans with Sam Deguara and Nigel Mifsud producing another inspirational display for the hosts.
The Maltese made a fast start and after the opening 10 minutes they were already 17 points ahead - 30-13.
The Andorrans struggled to contain Malta's attacking play and it was no surprise that at the interval the hosts were cruising through with a comfortable 53-28 lead.
After the restart, Andorra looked to get back in the match and managed to bridge the gap to 18 points, 76-58. However, it was too little to late as the Maltese regained the initiative in the final quarter and managed to breach the 100-point barrier to finish comfortable winners.
Deguara was the game's top scorer with 38 points while Sultana potted 21 points.
Today, Malta will face Gibraltar in the gold medal final after they edged past Moldova 59-57 in the second semi-final.
