Out of the blue, it was fascinating to read a letter from a local councillor who decided to write to The Times (July 10) to remind the residents and tourists in Qawra and Buġibba of the local council's contribution and plans for the area, as if we had just woken up.
Why it is that St Paul's Bay, Xemxija and Burmarrad, which fall under the council's responsibility, were left out of this publicity stunt? It is beyond the comprehension of the residents of Qawra and Buġibba!
Would it be prudent to ask the council if they are going to declare the total cost of the new toilets near Siren's pitch in St Paul's Bay, when the toilets in Bay Square, Buġibba were closed and sold or leased to private enterprise and two portable loos where placed there instead? Was this done because the residents near the Siren's pitch have superior toilet requirements?
A figure running into several tens of thousands has been mentioned, which amount would have gone a very long way to repair some of the dangerous roads and pavements that we residents, along with our visitors, have had to endure for a long number of years! Why now?
