Will they now congratulate themselves in again taking the initiative? By doing so, it is possible all will retain their prestigious position and walk tall again. And normal service will be resumed. Anyway, I envisage they will be satisfied that we, the public, possibly with our asthmatic conditions, will, meantime, remain subdued.
So does that mean that when the average Maltese citizens (and resident) wants to object to the many abuses by those in authority s/he will have to (as, apparently, is always the case) put pen to paper , send a-mail or whatever in order to provoke some sort of action by those sitting in safe comfort zones?
It certainly appears to be that way and I am not that confident that things will change unless we have people in responsible positions who embrace true ethical values. If so they will be immediately recognised by all and sundry.
It is also very worrying that, as in the case of the UK politicians' expenses controversy, if such things are not brought to light nothing would ever change.
In conclusion, the only possible solution to these dilemmas is for the very knowledgeable and well-informed Maltese citizens to speak out against any abuse of power at every opportunity.
One thread will break easily but many threads , say, a rope, will not.
