Fabiano: Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani said he would not increase a 14 million euro ($19.9 million) bid for Sevilla's Brazil striker Luis Fabiano. "We are absolutely firm on our offer. The price indicated by Sevilla must come down otherwise the deal won't go ahead," added Galliani, whose club are keeping a lid on spending despite selling Kaka to Real Madrid for 67 million euros.
Fenerbahce: Brazil left wing back Andre Santos and his Corinthians team-mate Cristian are leaving for Fenerbahce of Turkey, the Brazilian club said. Corinthians said that the clubs had agreed a deal and the players would undergo a medical and sort out personal terms this week.
Lille: Ivory Coast midfielder Gervinho has joined Lille on a three-year contract and will team up with his former coach. Gervinho, 22, turned professional with Belgian team Beveren in 2005. Two years later, he moved to French club Le Mans.
Rebrov: Former Ukraine and Tottenham Hotspur striker Serhiy Rebrov has retired from the game to become a coach for his former club Dynamo Kiev. The Ukrainian champions said that Rebrov would become an assistant to youth team coach Vladimir Muntyan.
Athletics: Marathon world record holder Haile Gebrselassie will go head-to-head with his nearest rival Duncan Kibet in this year's Berlin marathon on September 20, organisers said. Ethiopian Gebrselassie, who set the world's quickest time of 2:03:59 in Berlin last year, has opted not to race at the world championships in the German capital in August to prepare for the Berlin marathon. Kenyan Kibet, who made his distance running debut in Vienna in 2008, has the second fastest time after winning the Rotterdam marathon earlier this year with a time of 2:04:27.
Horse racing: Trainer Karl Burke has been banned for 12 months after an inquiry into alleged race-fixing, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) said. The BHA accused Burke of breaching the rules of racing by supplying businessman Miles Rodgers, who was already disqualified, with inside information on races. Burke has a week to lodge an appeal.
Basket, NBA: The Los Angeles Clippers have traded forward Quentin Richardson to the Minnesota Timberwolves for guard Sebastian Telfair and forwards Craig Smith and Mark Madsen. "This move really gives some much-needed depth," Clippers general manager and coach Mike Dunleavy said on the team's website.
