Malta International Airport has announced a €16 million investment on a business centre, set to be completed in the second half of 2011.

The centre will be built close to the McDonalds site at MIA and will feature five storeys of office space plus retail outlets, restaurants and underground parking.

The first tenants will be Vodafone Malta.

"This is a convenient time to invest in such a project when construction costs are low. The area is in an ideal location, close to the arterial roads network and the airport and with excellent access to public transport," MIA chief executive Julian Jaeger said.

"The site is ideal for prestigious multi-national companies and we are gratified to have an entity such as Vodafone as our tenants. This makes us confident of achieving success."

Vodafone will occupy 2,500 square metres of the centre, plus another 600 square metres on the top floor.
