I loved listening to architect Renzo Piano speaking about Valletta. He emphasised the need for civic pride, restoring our capital city's dignity, the magic of our islands and his love for Malta. It is this sense of pride that is able to break down barriers in this country, making way for commonalities rather than reinforcing divisions.
Indeed, we should all emulate Mr Piano's outlook of our country and not merely of our capital city.
It is this reappropriation, this re-engagement with pride which can allow us to invigorate democracy and encourage more people to get involved in its mechanism, creating fundamentally a transformation of this country for the better.
