For and against the George Cross on the national flag (1)

I had started this controversy on The Times back in 1994 and have harped on the subject since then. The removal of the George Cross from our flag is also a question of when! The reasons for doing so are numerous and obvious. Unfortunately, there are still people among us who are so attached to and brainwashed by the colonial past. It is for this reason that I decided to keep a low profile on the subject in recent years. I am hopeful that, in time, our society will be cleansed from such submissiveness.
The Maltese flag belongs to the Maltese and no foreigner has the right to taint it with symbols depicting past foreign rule, as was the case of the George Cross. I have nothing against the British (except that they still believe in monarchies, which is a thing of ancient past). If the George Cross were French, Italian or of any other nationality, I would still advocate for its removal from our flag.
