Maltese swimmers enjoyed further success in the pool after winning another seven medals on the second day of competitions at the FISEC Games in Algarve, Portugal.
Yesterday's successful performance has taken Malta's medal tally to nine - three silver and six bronze.
Andrew Chetcuti and Robert Micallef again left their mark on swimming events after grabbing two other podium places yesterday.
Chetcuti won his second silver medal of the Games when he finished second in the 100m backstroke final. The young swimmer then went on to claim third place in the 50m freestyle when clocking 24.99 seconds.
Micallef, a bronze medallist in the 400m IM on Sunday, stepped on the podium again yesterday with a second-place finish in the 100m fly. His time of 1:00.74 is a new national record on short course.
David Zammit was third in the 100m free final when clocking 1:01.18.
Another national mark was set by Daniel Galea who landed bronze in the 200m breastroke in 2:30.64. Galea also took bronze in the 50m breastroke in 32.19.
The other medal for Malta yesterday came from the 4x200m freestyle boys' relay team who finished third. The quartet was made up of Micallef, Galea, Chetcuti and Beppe Grech.
Earlier yesterday, Maltese swimmers shattered another two national short-course records when Zammit swam the 50m fly in 26.83 while Chetcuti completed the 100m free in 54.74 seconds.
In track and field events, Bertrand Sant qualified for tomorrow's 400 metres final but Chris Chetcuti and Simon Spiteri failed to advance from the 1,500m heats after placing seventh and eighth from 14 runners.
