The Faculty of Theology felt the need to provide more specialised training in view of the changing trends in society and the pressure on ecclesiastical tribunals.
Therefore, as from this year, a Master of Arts degree is being offered in matrimonial Canon law and jurisprudence, a three-year course taught mainly through research.
The faculty said this followed the great interest shown by post-graduate theology, law and social sciences students in courses offered by the ecclesiastical tribunals and repeated requests by participants to upgrade the courses to University level.
Moreover, the faculty is offering MA degrees in family ministry and youth ministry after the diocesan synod identified family and youth as priorities for pastoral ministry and called for new approaches and methods.
It will also be offering a post-graduate diploma in pastoral psychology, which is intended to bridge the world of counselling with the pastoral mission, which often requires the services of professional psychologists.
