Former Real Madrid and Brazil coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo has agreed to take charge of Santos, the Brazilian club said.
"Santos FC agreed to hire trainer Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The agreement will be made formal on Monday (tomorrow)," the club said.
It will be Luxemburgo's fourth stint as Santos coach. He left them the last time at the end of 2007 after steering them to two successive Paulista (Sao Paulo state) titles.
"I'm very happy to be returning to this great club with which I feel strongly identified," Luxemburgo said.
Luxemburgo was sacked three weeks ago by Palmeiras over differences with the club's board concerning striker Keirrison's negotiations for a transfer to Barcelona.
The 57-year-old Luxemburgo is the most successful coach in the Brazilian championship with five titles including 2004 in charge of Santos.
He held the Brazil job from 1998 to 2000 and spent a year at Real Madrid in 2004/05.
