Beach clean-ups have been taking place monthly since a voluntary hands-on group was formed last year to clean up Malta's beaches. Since then, the group, called 'That's Rubbish!', has been growing in size and hopes to promote a cleaner environment.

According to the group's founder, Michelle Bartolo, a minimum of 20 extra-large rubbish bags are filled during each clean-up.

That's Rubbish! has so far focused on cleaning Għajn Tuffieħa, as there is no rubbish collection there throughout the winter. The next cleanup is on Sunday, from 5-7 p.m. at Għajn Tuffieħa. Rubbish bags and gloves will be provided.
