Lescott's going nowhere - Moyes

Everton boss David Moyes insisted that defender Joleon Lescott would be staying at Goodison Park.

Lescott has been linked with a move elsewhere this summer but Moyes assured shareholders at a forum at Goodison that none of his players will be available in the transfer market this summer.

"I have already said there will be no players sold at Everton and I do not feel I need to say any more," he said.

"The board have never sold a player from me, it will only be at my discretion. I said it at the end of the season and I do not need to say any more."

Talisman Terry not for sale

Chelsea captain John Terry will be leading the Premier League club for years to come no matter how much Manchester City offer for him, chief executive Peter Kenyon said.

"We're not going to sell John, so from that point of view it's really irrelevant what another club will offer," Kenyon told Sky News.

He added: "I don't know what they (City) are offering but I'm confident that John is going to remain with us. John is a talisman, he's the heart of Chelsea."

City had an offer for the 28-year-old England captain rejected at the beginning of July after originally making contact in January.

"He's too important to us and we're very confident that he'll be leading us forward in the years to come," Kenyon said of Terry.

Beckham eyes another loan

David Beckham says he expects to find another half-year loan deal ahead of the World Cup next year to keep himself in England manager Fabio Capello's plans for the tournament in South Africa.

"Leading up to the World Cup, the England manager has made it very clear to me that I need to be playing at a European level," Beckham told US reporters.

"So I will do everything possible... I'll always regret it if I didn't do everything and to give myself a chance to be involved in that.

"At the moment my priority is the rest of the season and also playing and keeping myself in every squad for England."

Greening wants West Brom exit

West Bromwich Albion captain Jonathan Greening is insisting he wants to leave the club. The 30-year-old midfielder asked Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace for a transfer, indicating he is not keen on playing in the Championship.

Albion turned down a €2.5 million bid from Fulham for the midfielder earlier this week, labelling the price "derisory."

"Jonathan is our captain and a vital member of the squad," Peace said.

"We want to keep all our players as we strive for promotion back to the Premier League."

The former Manchester United player still has a year, plus an option of a further 12 months remaining on his contract.

Hleb moves if he fails to win place

Barcelona midfielder Aleksandr Hleb will leave the Spanish club at the end of the year unless he starts playing more regularly, Russian daily Sport-Express quoted him as saying.

"For now I'm still a Barca player," the 28-year-old Belarus international told the newspaper.

"I'll try my best but if my situation doesn't improve then I will have to find another club."

Hleb moved from Arsenal for €15 million ($21.07 million) 12 months ago but played only a limited role as Barcelona won a European and domestic treble last season.

Rangers accept bid for Ferguson

Scottish champions Rangers accepted a bid from Birmingham City for veteran midfielder Barry Ferguson.

The 31-year-old will discuss terms with Birmingham, who are coached by former Rangers and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, on the deal which is believed to be worth a million pounds.

Ferguson has already played in the English top flight with Blackburn Rovers. The former international stalwart was fined and stripped of the Rangers captaincy last season following a breach of discipline while on Scotland duty in April after a World Cup qualifying defeat by Holland in Amsterdam.

The late night drinking incident also led to an end to his international career.

United hand Gibson contract extension

Manchester United have handed promising Ireland international Darron Gibson a three-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until 2012.

"I am very happy to commit my future to United," the 21-year-old said.

"Last season I enjoyed every opportunity and when I got my chance I wanted to prove what I could do. I hope to continue that this season."

Gibson made 14 appearances last season, playing an integral part in United's Carling Cup triumph. He also scored three goals and United expect even more this season from the central midfielder, who will be pushing for a regular first team place.
