Moira Buffini's Loveplay, a comedy premiered by the Royal Shakespeare Company at London's Pit Theatre in 2001, will be staged at St James Cavalier, in Valletta, between August 7 and 9.
The production will be presented by the new theatre company Pagoni and features Maltese actors Jean Marc Cafà, currently studying musical theatre at the prestigious Guildford School of Acting in the UK, Jo Caruana, Pia Zammit and Andrew Galea together with UK actors Timothy Bond and Katie Prosser.
The "witty, sexy comedy" follows a trail of passion and seduction spanning 2,000 years and is being presented by arrangement with United Agents Ltd, London. It is sponsored by the Guildford School of Acting, MADC, Alison White Dance Studio, Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Ballet and MonteKristo.
Pagoni Theatre seeks to give drama students and graduates fresh out of college the opportunity to put their knowledge and performance skills to use. In doing so, Pagoni says it aims to raise funds to help students in financial need and to produce quality theatre.
Tickets for Loveplay are available from St James Cavalier, telephone 2122 3200 and e-mail bookings@sjcav.org.
