August 30-September 2, Medical Informatics Europe Conference

The main theme of MIE 2009 is medical informatics' role in ensuring a united and healthy Europe. New medical, biomedical, and health informatics bridges must be built between the western and eastern parts of the European world. For this purpose, a panel of top scientists and health care managers will keynote speeches, tutorials, and organise in-depth workshop discussions. Scientific presentations shall be delivered from more than 40 countries and all continents, with average attendance expected to be of around 500 to 1,000 participants. The event will be held in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The conference in Stockholm will address issues in relation to how sustainable urban development can be part of meeting the challenges connected with climate change while contributing to the conversion to a low-carbon, green economy. The conference also continues the work of previous EU presidencies on sustainable urban development, in particular the initiative taken by the French Presidency in 2008 aimed at facilitating the implementation of the Leipzig Charter on Sustainable European Cities.
