Seven doctors were assaulted in the first six months of this year, compared to eight cases in the whole of last year.

Social Policy Minister John Dalli said in reply to a parliamentary question that last year, there were three assaults at Mater Dei Hospital, one at Paola health centre, and four at Mt Carmel Hospital.

This year, there were two assaults at Mater Dei, one at Gzira health centre, two at Qormi health centre and two at Mt Carmel Hospital.

Two of the assaults at Mt Carmel last year and another this year involved the same doctor.

88 receiving HIV treatment

Replying to another question, Mr Dalli told Labour MP Noel Farrugia that 88 patients, including three prisoners, are being treated for HIV.
