A total of €195,000 was collected during the Oħloq Tbissima 60-hour marathon that was held in aid of the St Joseph Home in Sta Venera and the St Paul Missionary priests.

The fund-raising televised marathon, which began at noon on Friday, came to an end on Sunday at midnight with performances by local rock band Winter Moods and tenor Joseph Calleja. President George Abela described this marathon as a clear example of solidarity without frontiers where donors did not expect any prizes.

He said people in missionary lands lacked essentials but their work was a lesson to everyone because they could appreciate the beauty around them.

The marathon was broadcast live on Education 22, Net TV, One TV, Calypso Music TV and other television and radio stations.
