H1N1 - three new cases confirmed
The Health Department said today that three new H1N1 cases were confirmed yesterday but no other cases were confirmed up to noon today.
The department said that 48 patients had now recovered and 34 were receiving treatment.
All diagnosed cases were responding to treatment and doing well.
It said that the new cases were a woman and a three-year-old boy, both Gozitan, and a Maltese man.
The department had explained last week that only vulnerable people showing flu symptoms were being tested.

how can exact counts and records be kept if doctors aren't testing but telling people to stay at home?
should family members be quarantined, and if so..... what is an employer's responsibility towards quarantined staff. Are they issued with a sick note?
and for families who wisely invested in buying Tamiflu.... how can they know whether they should use it if peope aren't being tested?
finally
shouldn't people be told whether they HAVE Swine Flu or not? A fuzzy stay-at-home is really NOT good enough!

Damien, Does it make a difference to you if the patient is Malteses Gozitan or from Timbuktoo? This fuss by the media about Gozo and stuff is all blah blah if you are going to Gozo for a holiday just cross your fingers and go for it. If not then it would'nt make a difference to you lik eit doesn't make one for me.

These daily announcements may now be misleading public that there is no reason to worry since on average we are having only three cases daily.
However, it seems that only vulnerable people are being tested. If this is the case, there may be hundreds of swine flu cases which are not being reported in these statistics, but who are recovering at home or receiving tamiflu.
Does the current wave of viruses, especially gastric, badly effecting children have anything to do with swine flu also?

Today I asked my chemist whether the vaccine for swine flu will be available for sale, to which she replied that only government clinics will be supplying them. Could anyone tell me how the whole thing is going to be carried out?
