Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith is in Malta on a two-day visit during which he will have talks with Foreign Minister Tonio Borg.

He will also make courtesy calls on President George Abela and Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

The talks will focus on Malta-Australia political and trade relations, issues relating to the Maltese community in Australia and relations between Australia and the EU.

The Foreign Minister will be meeting Maltese-Australians currently in Malta and will lay a wreath at Pieta' Military Cemetery. Hundreds of Australian servicemen are buried in Malta, many from the Gallipoli campaign of the First World War.
