New Inter signing Thiago Motta has sent Marcello Lippi a message for next year's World Cup after declaring his willingness to play for Italy.
The Brazilian midfielder was on the verge of ending his career due to a series of injuries and was released by Barcelona. However, he impressed so much in one season at Genoa that he has earned a move to the Serie A champions.
"I have an Italian passport and if the opportunity to be called by Lippi arose, as I've said many times, then I would be happy," he said at his presentation as Inter player.
"If the coach wants me, then I will join the Azzurri and play."
In the meantime, the new Inter man is settling at the club under Jose Mourinho's instructions after arriving from Genoa with Argentine forward Diego Milito.
"I can only thank the club and hope to do well this term. We can still improve, but are already in a position to give our contribution to the team," Motta commented.
