Škoda has won the Auto Express Car magazine's customer satisfaction award, knocking Lexus off the top spot in the Driver Power survey.
The annual survey represents a poll of over 20,000 drivers who complete a detailed questionnaire rating many aspects of the vehicle including value for money, performance, cost of ownership, dealer qualifications, reliability and overall customer satisfaction with their own vehicle over the previous 12 months.
The 2009 results have for the first time positioned Škoda as the number one brand ahead of Lexus and Porsche.
The Škoda Fabia came first in its class of Supermini/City Car and the Škoda Superb came first in the Best Family Car class.
Although the Czech car manufacturer is the third oldest in the world, celebrating its centenary in 2005, up until 1994 and its merger with Volkswagen its position in the industry was at the lower end. This transformation in a period of 15 years up the rankings of the auto industry is an extremely difficult accolade to achieve, especially when competing with all the industry leaders who themselves are actively introducing new customer satisfaction programmes of their own.
In the second half of the year, Škoda will yet again enter a new market sector launching the new Yeti SUV 4x4 competing against traditional manufacturers in this sector.
