What is most dear to the Maltese during their village feast? Normally, one might appreciate the church services, the traditional bands, the solemn procession of their patron saint, and the gathering of the people at the square and surrounding streets to celebrate the feast.

Unfortunately, instead of enjoying the bands playing, we are witnessing a completely different trend during feast week.

From the Sunday before, we are subjected to loud music, discos and even street parties, depriving the locals of a decent night's sleep.

It seems that some of the bars believe they can do whatever they want, without any respect for workers, the sick, the elderly and even babies who are unable to sleep well because of the excessive noise pollution.

I appeal to those in charge and ask them to take note of this abuse, and make sure the law is observed for the good of every citizen.
