Keep our beaches clean
Well done to Mellieħa council for doing its utmost to keep public beaches clean.
I was at Armier Bay on July 5 for the first time this summer and the area near the concrete platform, just below the large car park, was a mess.
There was seaweed on the rocks and the bins were not emptied until 10 a.m.
This is a place frequented by families and leaflets should be handed out in the area informing people that the area should be kept clean.
Last but not least, the road spanning from beneath the Red Tower to Armier needs resurfacing. Would the relevant authorities please take note?

"Well done to Mellieħa council"
The things you mentioned are all based on what the Mellieha council failed to do. So, well done, for what? Incidentally yesterday as I was passing by St. Georges Bay at around 20:00 hrs I noticed that all the sandy beach was a mess. If the local council forbids bar-b-qs, anyone thinks that the mess will disappear?

And somehow, dear Jeremy we have grown accustomed to the trend of having to pay for anything. Or that anyone by right (or backed by some supreme power) can ask for a toll for whatever reason without any questions asked. Just like goats herded around. I guess we need to change the saying to ,"the best things in life are....well... you'd have to pay for them mate".

Because, dear J Borg...in a few years time, you'll have to pay to use sandy beaches, so that a few people get richer...mark my words...time will see if I'm right....We're already half way there...

What a laugh....so why are we lauding the Mellieha Mayor for taking the easiest way out.
Many know that in summer bbq's are a family gathering and socialising atmosphere.
So, because of a few the many are to pay as well.
Why doesn't the mayor employ plain clothed green wardens and make them go round the beach, mainly towards the time when bbq's are coming to en and and if the catch anyone a heavy fine is inflicted.
It's that way that we maltese learn by having to pay heavy fines.
I am sure that if these green wardens do their job well, and catch a couple of people and inflict heavy fines, those attending the bbq's during the summer weekends will leave the beach spotlessly clean.
Why doesn't the mellieha mayor try this option, before removing the bbq's by issuing a bye law.

Thank your lucky stars you managed to safely arrive at Armier Bay without breaking any suspension components.
