Melita FC have appointed Paul Zammit as president after long-standing president Anton Naudi announced his retirement last month.

Speaking at the club's annual general meeting, Naudi thanked all who collaborated with him during his 26-year presidency and 48 years since joining the club as a player, steering Melita to many successes, culminating in the promotion to first division last season.

Naudi also augured the new president and committee well, saying that he believes there is just the right blend to guarantee continuity at the club.

The club was successful on all fronts last season. Apart from promotion to the First Division, Melita also won the KO competition for Division Two and Three teams, the youths Section B title and KO competition.

Naudi also thanked all the club's amateur players, who he considers his sons, for their dedication and above all their love for the game and Melita FC.

In his address, Zammit thanked all present for their trust in electing him to lead Melita FC and, in particular, Naudi for all his hard work and dedication throughout.

He said that it is his intention to continue working in the interest of this unique club and promised to maintain the club's 'amateur' status all through his term.

At the first meeting of the newly appointed committee it was agreed that the same coaching staff, who steered Melita to promotion last season, would be retained.

This team of coaches will be led by Martin Gregory. He will be assisted by Neil Zarb Cousin, Nikolai Attard and Kevin Ellul.
