Everton agreed a season-long loan deal for Brazilian striker Jo yesterday having earlier in the day confirmed they had signed American midfielder Anton Peterlin from lower tier US club Ventura County Fusion.
Jo joined the Premier League's big spenders Manchester City for 18 million pounds 12 months ago from CSKA Moscow but he was loaned out to Everton for five months last season, scoring five goals in 12 appearances.
City, who sold Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes to French club St Etienne yesterday for an undisclosed fee, signed Paraguay striker Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn Rovers last month for a fee in the region of 18 million pounds meaning Jo is again surplus to requirements.
Premier League club Everton said on their website that the 22-year-old Jo could feature in the club's friendlies next weeks if the relevant paperwork had been completed.
Peterlin, 22, who has Slovenian and Danish parents and holds dual American and Danish nationality, impressed Everton coach David Moyes when he had a trial at the club last season.
