Police work appreciated
Appreciation at police work has been expressed by the Nationalist Party in a statement.
It said that safety in Malta brought peace of mind to Maltese and Gozitan citizens and the fact that this existed in Malta was thanks to the force, which was giving the country the best service possible.
Police work was difficult and entailed big personal sacrifice with many policemen placing themselves in danger to protect the people.
The PN noted that the government recognised the need for a better trained and equipped police force strengthening investment in the force in the past year.
This led to a reduction in crime with nine percent less reports being submitted in police stations and at the police general headquarters in a year.
The Drug Squad continued to register success making substantial hauls and its work was effective and was bearing results. Good results had also been obtained by the Economic Crime Unit.
The force, the PN noted, had 1,900 officers, an average of an officer per 210 people.
The party encouraged the Maltese to appreciate police work and collaborate to continue making the county a safer place where criminality was constantly fought.

How i wish that the PN would wake up from the sleepiness its in! Who signed the statement? Do the PN know that the Last collective agreement between the Police and the Govenment date's back to1993? Were are the 40hrs a week promised by the PN in the letter sent to all policemen by the party leader back in 1987 days before the election, what happened? Still not finding time to talk things over? What equipment was given to the police? Why have you failed to specify which equipment was given? Dear PN are you still acting the Sleeping Beauty part? Ahhh i know why! Police can't strike, so what the heck! Happy dreams...zzzz

Can any of the PN officials how wrote the press release indicate where the extra investment in the Police Force went last year? It seems that none of these officials ever set foot in a Police Station or the General Head Quarters!!!
Do you believe that most Senior Police Officials have computers still using Windows 95 and dot-matrix printers for their correspondence whilst others do not even have a computer nor a printer?
Do you believe that when the Police Force bought new cars, the latest run, the Ford Focus, these where left for over a year in the garage just to use them 'fresh' during the CHOGUM? And most stations still have the Skodas which had they been private vehicles would surley not pass any VRT test?
So, please, dear PN officials, how about really looking at the problems that exist and please, respect the men and women how offer their life for the force. Most officials have resigned and others will resign soon as the Force is not the place to work. Try to imagine that certain officials are expected to work 24 hours straight. Is this legally right? I bet not!

I'm sorry to say that contrary to this article I do not feel safe with our local police. They are doing a very difficult job with very poor training (does anyone remember the incident that occurred at White Rocks Complex a few months ago when a police officer shot another one), poor physical condition etc.
They also suffer from an egotrip, and most of the them think that since they wear a uniform they are some sort of gods. Most of them are on a power trip: look at how they treat motorists when they stop them, or how they treat the persons who go to the police station for any query.
There should be a general overhaul of the police force: they cannot even control their own.

They failed to politically protect the police ,when they took the side of illegal immigration and acted with questionable national loyalty, to promote multi-culturism. It was the Rightwing that stood up for all our forces in a time of need on a daily basis.

Does the PN, who appreciates police work, think it should improve the working conditions of the police men and women especially those on fixed point duty where no sanitary facilities are provided for the duration of the shift, that is, circa 9 hrs straight with no relief.
Does the PN who appreciates police work think a more worker friendly shift is introduced so that the persons working in the police force are not exhausted when they start their next shift after leaving the previous shift barely 7 hours before?
Don't police men and women have basic human rights too? The right to living in a family environment?

The PN must praise also the military personnel. They are working to their extent , especially those working with the immigrants day after day ....
Their wages should be considered again, also how promotions are issued...
