Government appointments

Angelo Zahra (Discrimination In Government Service, June 25) challenged Salvu Felice Pace (Talking Point, June 16) to mention at least one person who, even though being a Malta Labour Party supporter, had been appointed chairman of a government or parastatal board.

Louis Grech, now a Member of the European Parliament, was appointed Air Malta chairman in 1997 and when a Nationalist government was returned to office after the September 5, 1998 general election, remained in his post for a number of successive years under different Nationalist administrations.

Mr Zahra is either living on the moon or has fallen for sordid Maltese Socialist propaganda ably spun by Joseph Muscat.
