Gennaro Ruotolo does not have the necessary coaching qualifications to manage promoted Livorno in Serie A and no exception will be made, the Italian football federation said yesterday.

Former Livorno player Ruotolo was appointed coach in May and guided the side to promotion via the play-offs, but he will now have to quickly finish his coaching badges or face being replaced.

New rookie Milan boss Leonardo was allowed to take charge by the federation because the Brazilian is a World Cup winner but he still had to complete a coaching course.
