A court yesterday conditionally discharged a young man for two years after he admitted to using two counterfeit €50 notes. Simon Camilleri, 20, of Żabbar, was caught using the false notes in Marsascala and Fgura between last February and April.

In handing down judgment, Magistrate Audrey Demicoli considered Mr Camilleri's early guilty plea, that he collaborated with the police and that he had a relatively clean police record. He was conditionally discharged for two years.

Police Inspector Fabian Fleri prosecuted. Lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared for Mr Camilleri.
