Aladdin in search of a cast

Masquerade have already decided that the main protagonist for their Christmas pantomime this year will be Aladdin but the performers have yet to be chosen.

In fact, open auditions for the panto will be held at the Manoel Theatre in Valletta on Tuesday and Wednesday at 5.30 p.m.

Those auditioning must be over 16 years and should be prepared with a song and a short monologue. A spokesman for Masquerade said they must take their own sheet music and/or backing tracks on CD and will be expected to perform a short piece of choreography that will be taught on the day.

The parts on offer are Aladdin, the Princess, the Wizard, the Emperor, the Genie and the Panda.

Backing up the cast will be Malcolm Galea (script), Anthony Bezzina (director), Kevin Abela (musical director), Jes Sciberras (choreographer), Harry Borg (sets) and Ernest Camilleri (costumes).
