Woman jailed for breaching house arrest conditions

Janica Mifsud, 25 of Sliema was today jailed for two months after she was found to have breached house arrest by going out for a walk.

A court was told that she had previously been granted bail but violated her bail conditions and had therefore been placed under house arrest for 14 months.

The girl stands accused of involvement in theft along with her former boyfriend.

ADMITS STEALING MOBILE PHONES

In another case, Anthony Galea, 46, of Zejtun, admitted to stealing three mobile phones from the GO outlet in Valletta. Their total value was €2,330 but he sold two of them for €10 each.

The third phone was found in his possession.

Mr Galea was jailed for two years, suspended for three years.

ACCUSED OF HARASSING FORMER GIRLFRIEND

Neil Attard 25, of Zabbar, this morning pleaded not guilty to having harassed and threatened his former girlfriend and her family through SMSs and phone calls. The court said the practice took place some months ago. The couple then got together again, but after they broke up the same thing started again.

Mr Attard was bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €2000.
