Obituary

AGIUS - On July 5 AGNES née Schembri, of Qormi residing at Balzan, aged 82, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her beloved husband Dr Joseph Agius, her son Dr Antoine and his wife Cecilia née Sciberras, her daughters Mary Rose and her husband Raymond Polidano, and Pauline and her husband Mr Justice Tonio Mallia, her grandchildren Claudia and her husband Engelbert Muscat, David and his fiancée Gabriella, Christine and her husband Mark Rizzo, and Caroline and her boyfriend Ezechiel, and her great-grandson Giorgio, her sister Sr Cecilia Schembri of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Apparition, and her sisters-in-law Mary Schembri, Violet Schembri and Bernardette Schembri, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Zammit Clapp Hospital today at 1.15 p.m. for St George's parish church, Qormi, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to the Missionary Society of St Paul, Rabat, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

AGIUS. On July 6, at Sir Paul Boffa Hospital, DORIS of Marsa, residing at Sliema, widow of Tony, aged 72, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her son Noel and his wife Carol, her sisters and brothers, Pawla, widow of France Difesa, France and his wife Violet Psaila, Tony and his wife Annie Psaila of Canada, Mary and her husband Mario Zammit of Canada, in-laws, nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, numerous relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Boffa Hospital today at 8.30 a.m. for Jesus of Nazareth parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m., followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to The Malta Hospice Movement, Balzan, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MICALLEF. On July 5, at Zammit Clapp Hospital, PIO, aged 84, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Imelda, his son Joseph and his wife Doreen, his granddaughter Maria Christina, relatives and friends. The funeral Mass will be said today at 2.30 p.m. at Birżebbuġa parish church, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Maltese culture

The Culture Ministry is organising a course about Malta's culture for emigrants who visit the islands in summer. The course, consisting of six weekly one-hour sessions, costs €10. To attend call 2598 2444 by July 15.
