Somali critically injured in unusual incident

A Somali is in a critical but stable condition following an incident at Hal Far Road, Birzebbuga, last night.

The police said it seemed two Somalis were riding their bicycles at around 12.15 a.m. when a car allegedly stopped in front of them and three men came out, assaulting one of the migrants.

Policemen who were patrolling the area in a police car saw a person lying on the ground and stopped to give first aid.

A person riding a motorbike thought there was a roadblock and drove to the side of the road. He did not see the injured Somali on the ground and drove over his legs.

A medical team was called and the victim was taken to hospital.

The police are investigating.
