An Air Malta plane returned to base yesterday afternoon after developing a fault in its nose wheel. An airline spokesman said the flight to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam took off at 4.32 p.m. and landed back safely at 5.21 p.m. Before landing, the plane, with 167 passengers on board, performed a flypast so that engineers on the ground could inspect the aircraft from the exterior.
