Fuel supplies must be paid for at market prices, no matter how much they cost, Infrastructure Minister Austin Gatt said in reply to supplementary parliamentary questions by opposition members.

Labour MP Noel Farrugia had specifically asked why the government had made no assessment of the impact that the recently-announced fuel prices, especially for petrol, would have on the national economy.
