Now that swine flu has reached our shores (3)
Due to the recent outbreak of Influenza A, better known as swine flu, I hereby appeal to the people and the authorities to discourage people from attending the Isle of MTV concert.
Despite the fact that the event is being held outdoors, the greatly crowded Granaries holding an estimated 50,000 people, many of them foreigners from countries that are unfortunately infected by H1N1, surely poses a serious risk to public health. One could reiterate this warning to various discos scattered around the island.

I totally agree with I. Alamango... in fact why not shut down the whole country all together and hide ourselves in bunkers??? ;-))
Honestly people, let the show go on for those who want to enjoy it. After all, thousands of Maltese visit Mater Dei every day, a place where illness & disease is most rampant, & no one bats an eyelid
I didn't see anyone walking around fearfully at Moby's concert or at the Marsovin Wine Festival. Both events were PACKED...& oh my God there were even foreigners....MAAAA!!!
Enjoy the show & stay home only if you feel sick or suffer from other medical problems!!!

@Alamango: I must agree with you, the event is big and it would be a huge pity if it were to be cancelled due to this recent health scare.
However, one cannot deny the certainty that this event will increase the number of infections of influenza A, which I am sure you would agree will be no joy.
May all have fun while remembering to be extra careful of their surroundings in the hope that that their joy is not shorlived.

Yes most definitely AnnMarie@ its a disgusting habit spitting, we were in Gozo last week doing a bit of shopping at a big supermarket, i sat in my car when this young female driver just drove pass me out the car park, naturally being a male i look at all the local beautiful women, well she was very pretty but then i saw her spitting out the window which turned my stomach, that is very unhygienic and and disgusting especially for a female. TAKE MY ADVICE FOR Health reason STOP SPITTING AT ONCE! Don't let your image down we are all intelligent adults.

Following Mark's letter.. i also suggest that we do not go out anywhere, do not attend mass.. do not go to the nearby grocer, we do not go to work aswell!
Malta international airport, Freeport, VIrtu Ferries and cruise liner docks can also shut down too following your stunning suggestion.
The more they obey your suggestion regarding MTV, the better is for me ;) as i will have no problem to be upfront at this concert! :)

What about those 'gentlemen' who think it's ok to spit wherever they are? Isn't this also a health risk, not to mention a most disgusting habit? Stricter fines should be issued for this.
