Viduka: Mark Viduka is weighing up offers from two Premier League clubs, according to his agent. Viduka is looking for a new club after his contract with Newcastle expired last week. Fulham have been strongly linked with the 33-year-old and Viduka's representative, Steve Kutner, told English newspapers that two Premier League sides have expressed an interest in the Australian forward.
Gold Cup: The United States made a winning start to their defence of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Saturday with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Grenada while Group B rivals Honduras beat Haiti 1-0. Goals from Freddie Adu, Stuart Holden, Robbie Rogers and Charlie Davies sealed a confident display from Bob Bradley's team. In the earlier game, Carlo Costly headed home the winner for Honduras in the 76th minute against Haiti.
Topuzakov: Bulgaria defender Elin Topuzakov has rejoined champions Levski Sofia from Israel's Hapoel Tel Aviv, the club said yesterday. Topuzakov, 32, who scored 21 goals in 313 matches for Levski during his first spell at the club, has signed a two-year contract with an option for a third year.
Sheffield United: Sheffield United are closing in on Watford duo Tommy Smith and John-Joe O'Toole and Bristol City's Michael McIndoe. The Blades, who are having a pre-season training camp in Malta this week, have had bids accepted for all three players and are now in talks about taking them to Bramall Lane.
Juve swipe: Udinese owner Giampaolo Pozzo slammed Juventus for the way they approached Gaetano D'Agostino and warned "he's staying with us." The two clubs were in advanced negotiations but those broke down last week when Juventus failed to meet the £14m asking price. "They mistook me for a pushover, so I'm keeping D'Agostino," Pozzo told the Messaggero newspaper.
Grenoble: Striker Josip Tadic of Dinamo Zagreb has agreed to sign a four-year contract with French first division side FC Grenoble, the Croatian club said."Tadic is a very talented player ... I am certain that he will be very successful in France," Dinamo Zagreb official Zdravko Mamic told the Sportske Novosti newspaper. The 21-year-old is expected to sign a contract with FC Grenoble today after undergoing a medical exam.
MotoGP: Jorge Lorenzo needed to pass a medical test before taking part in last night's US MotoGP following a crash just moments after snatching pole position. The Spaniard was taken from the Laguna Seca circuit in an ambulance after he tumbled over the handlebars and slid into a sand trap at high speed at the end of Saturday's qualifying. Lorenzo had taken pole position with a fastest qualifying time of one minute 21.678 seconds. His Yamaha team-mate and championship leader Valentino Rossi was second quickest, 0.167 behind, with Australian Casey Stoner third despite crashing heavily on his Ducati.
Basketball: The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) have ordered Bulgarian champions Lukoil Academic to pay two former players nearly $285,000 in unpaid salaries and lawsuit expenses, the club said. Former Dallas Mavericks shooting guard Stevin Smith and Serbian guard Nenad Djoric filed for compensation over delays in salary payments after leaving the club in 2008. FIBA also barred Lukoil from signing new players until the payments had been made.
