Work on Gozo public transport reform
Over the past year, the government has commissioned a number of transport experts to make recommendations on a new public transport system in Gozo.
Answering a parliamentary question by Gozitan Labour MP Anton Refalo, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Austin Gatt said the aim was to introduce a public transport system that would be efficient and reliable, with the least possible impact on the environment and in conformity with EU rules. The new system would use more modern vehicles and would be based on routes better suited to needs in Gozo.
Minister Gatt said that to date, three meetings had been held with the Gozo Bus Owners Association and another meeting with taxi owners. Two meetings had been held with the Ministry for Gozo, a presentation to local councils and rounds of consultation on bus routes with the same councils. This was besides the open conference held in December 2008, which everybody interested could attend.

We can't make an omelet while not breaking any eggs. To see any real improvement one must first be prepared that to make some painful changes but I can't see that happening.

This should all be part and parcel of ECO Gozo.. The public need a more reliable service...and a frequent service... Why is there a time gap of 5hrs service from Victoria to Nadur... 11.45am - 5pm!! And if there is no need for a bus...a minibus will do...but frequency is the key point...besides if there are more routes from Mgarr to all villages then more Maltese [let alone tourists] would be willing to come over to our beautiful island!
