In my letter to The Times of June 16, I challenged Salvu Felice Pace to name Labour supporters who were appointed chairmen or members of boards or authorities, and even of Labour supporters who were given appointments in government service during Nationalist administrations. These were requested after Mr Felice Pace alleged that Labour supporters formed a network in government service to favour Labour supporters and caused Nationalist supporters to moan against "their" government.
According to Mr Felice Pace this was one of the reasons why the PN lost the European Parliamentary election. Probably Mr Felice Pace is still compiling the list of Labour supporters appointed, and of the alleged such Labour network created in government service. No list has as yet been provided by Mr Felice Pace.
Instead, to his rescue came Edgar Gatt of Swieqi (June 30) and instead of stating whether he agrees to Mr Salvu Felice Pace's statement, and filling half a page with names of such Labour supporters, he only mentions Vincent Moran who was a member of the Malta Maritime Authority. He mentioned also my lack of knowledge of current affairs. To my knowledge Dr Moran is not and has not been a member of this Authority for these last couple of years.
He acknowledged that Dr Moran was a very respected member. I have not the least doubt about that, and even dare say that Dr Moran is not only a most respectable person, but categorically state that he was the best Minister of Health we ever had in our Maltese political history. During his tenure as Minister, we had no waiting lists for operations at St Luke's Hospital.
Maybe this Nationalist government should have used Dr Moran's ability and experience to help reduce the present scandalous operations waiting lists at the Mater Dei Hospital.
