Academy students tread the boards

Students attending the Helen O'Grady Academy Development Through Drama programme recently showcased their talents at a soiree of three punchy theatrical performances for parents and friends.
"Parents and teachers are invariably impressed at the progress of our students," said academy principal Alan Montanaro.
"These mini-productions give each child the chance to put into effect many of the skills acquired during the year and share their sense of achievement through performance," he explained.
The award-winning programme aims to develop enthusiasm, confidence, self-esteem, communication and social skills through a drama curriculum that has been developed internationally over 28 years, is ongoing and progressive.
Young people can remain in the academy from the ages of five to 17 without ever repeating a lesson. It caters for three age-groups: youth theatre (11-17), upper primary (nine to 11), and lower primary (five to eight).
