Sheffield United FC have announced a programme of events - 'Football, Fun, Music and Sun' - for the Blades' pre-season tour of Malta between next Monday and Friday.
The first in a series of activities will be today when the Blades' event team will be displaying a giant Sheffield United flag in Valletta. The Maltese will be invited to sign the flag that will be taken back to Bramall Lane and displayed at all of next season's home games.
On Monday, there will be an invitation to join the Malta Junior Blades Charity Evening at the Splash and Fun Water Park, from 5.30 to 9 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the park for €10, which includes a meal and drink.
As part of 'Malta Music Week', the Blades have invited popular Sheffield-based band Craine to play hits from their debut album, 'Sleeping Vixen,' on Tuesday evening in Bugibba.
Meanwhile, a celebrity Blades team will feature in the Sun Fun Football Tournament at Floriana, on Wednesday. The squad features Blades legend Brian Deane, United youngster Travis Binnion, a surprise Maltese player and members of pop band Craine.
They will take on teams from Grand Hotel Excelsior, Fortina Spa Resort and Maritim Antonine Hotel in a six-a-side tournament.
On Thursday, Sheffield United will be opening their summer training camp to the public at the Hibs Ground.
Another highlight of the tour will be a Blades charity evening, also on Thursday.
Guests will have the opportunity to mingle with the Sheffield United first team squad, as well as getting an autograph and photograph with the players.
This will be a prestigious occasion to soak up the atmosphere at the Excelsior Yacht Club, where Ira Losco will be joining Craine to provide entertainment.
Sheffield United will play a pre-season friendly against Floriana on Friday at the Hibs Ground.
Sheffield United Chief Executive Jason Rockett said: "Football, Fun, Music and Sun demonstrates what a unique relationship we have with Malta. We wanted to create a number of events that will be attended by our squad, so that locals and fans travelling from Sheffield will have an opportunity to get closer to the team."
A limited number of 'Blades on Tour' t-shirts will be handed out free at all the events.
