Traffic arrangements for Malta Music Week
The Malta Tourism Authority has issued the traffic arrangements for the three concerts for Malta Music Week that kicks off today.
A party featuring dance icon Roger Sanchez will be held tonight at Popeye's Village in Anchor Bay.
Before the party, Triq Il-Prajjiet, the narrow road leading to the village and Anchor Bay, will be closed from 5 p.m. until late.
Gorg Borg Olivier Street in Mellieha will be closed to traffic from 7.30 p.m. for the Mellieha Motorsports Festival. There will be a shuttle service from the Mellieha bypass to Anchor Bay and back all night. People are encouraged to park properly.
The second concert will be held on Tuesday in Bugibba's main square featuring Brooke, Christabelle, Salt, Klinsmann, Eve Ransom and UK band Craine.
On Tuesday, cars and buses coming from Dawret il-Gzejjer will be redirected to Triq ir-Rebbiegha while those coming from Islet Promenade will be directed into Triq il-Halel.
The long-awaited Isle of MTV concert, featuring Esmee Denters, Metro Station, Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas will be held on Wednesday at the Granaries.
Sarrija Road, Floriana, will be closed to all traffic from Tuesday until Friday and no parking will be allowed from Monday. St Publius Street will be closed to traffic and cleared from parking until next Friday. Traffic will be redirected from St Anne Street or E.S. Tonna Street into Vincenzo Bugeja Street, past the police headquarters.
Buses will operate an extra schedule from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. which will cost €1.16 to all locations. The bus lane from Pietà to Valletta will be kept clear with the drop-off point in front of APS Bank in St Anne Street.
The Park and Ride service will operate normally with extra shuttles available depending on demand.
People are encouraged to use the Park and Ride service and to park properly.
Entry to the Granaries will be from the back end via E.S. Tonna Street or through the Mall in Floriana. There will be no entry into Sarrija Road or St Publius Street from Great Siege Road but it will only be used as an exit.
There will be three medical posts around the Granaries.
An elevated stand for around 50 people with special needs will be set up next to the main stage, on the side closest to Sarrija Road (the Mall). Cars with official disability badges will be allowed to go through to Great Siege Road.
